HE ALREADY KNOWS – THE POWER IN KNOWING WHAT HE KNOWS!
John 6:5-7 (NLT)
5 Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for him. Turning to Philip, he asked, “Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” 6 He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do.
7 Philip replied, “Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money[a] to feed them!”
We all know the story of Jesus feeding the 5000+ crowd of followers with a boy’s lunch. Today I would like to narrow in on the before the miracle happened part of this scripture passage. We just read from the above scripture that, Jesus already knew what He was going to do – He already knew that He was going to do a miracle that would feed all the 5,000+ of them who were there- despite the lack of money or enough food to do so. This vital knowledge – that Jesus already knew what He was going to do, was however not revealed to our brother Philip. Like any other person would respond to such a crisis – Philip was convinced that there was no way on earth they could feed such a crowd [His response to Jesus (vs.7) is a clear indication of his lack of of revealed knowledge. Because had He known, His answer would have been different. It’s evident he had no clue of what Jesus was going to do thus making it so easy for him to rule out the situation to be a Dead-end aka “Mission Impossible”( 7 Philip replied, “Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!”)
Have you found yourself in a situation like Philip where what you see with your eyes completely rules out any possible options for a solution. All odds seem to be working against you. Even though you believe in God – Stretching out your faith seems pointless. And if you could be honest with yourself- you’ve probably ruled it out as MISSION IMPOSSIBLE -NOTHING CAN BE DONE – IT IS WHAT IT IS! If you have felt this way – you probably not alone. It’s so easy to feel this way and have such an outlook . Yes its common, but only common if you don’t know what He (Jesus) knows concerning your life or current situation.
Many of us, just like Philip don’t know what Jesus is going to do –so we end up worrying, being anxious, being fearful, considering or probably giving up. We are quick to rule out the situation – DEAD. But is it really DEAD? Is it really Mission Impossible? Friend, before you rule out your situation as DEAD – I have a question for you –“What is Jesus saying about it -Do you know what He has planned in His mind concerning it? If you don’t know – just hold on right there – Jesus will soon show you His plan for you or your circumstance.
God already knows what He is going to do with your situation. The question is “Do you trust in Him enough to believe and have faith that He knows what his going to do for you”. Most situations that we face are not meant to destroy us but rather they are meant to stretch our faith in Him AND for God’s Name to be glorified.
Martha (John 11:21) and Mary (John 11:32), were no different from Philip. They too like Philip didn’t know what Jesus had in mind towards their situation (Lazarus’ death) 21 “Lord”, Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died”. – Calm down Martha, Jesus has you covered. He knows what His doing. He has delayed for a reason.
32 When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” Yes and you too Mary – Jesus already knows what He is going to do – Lazarus will live again! Start celebrating!
Be encouraged today to find peace in Him – knowing that Jesus has you covered. He is already a billion steps ahead of you – so he already knows the outcome. He already knew the outcome before you were even born. So while you may still be looking at the situation and mourning how bad it is– Jesus is seeing a totally different picture! He already seeing you celebrating your victory! Wipe your tears of sorrow, of defeat, chin up and SMILE – Jesus’ got you covered! Weeping may endure for a night- but joy comes in the morning.
Put your complete Trust in Him, Lean not on your own understanding, Commit everything to Him and Rely on His faithfulness. HE ALREADY KNOWS WHAT HE IS GOING TO DO!
