The other day I was reading a passage of scripture in Genesis and got the most amazing revelation I want to share with you today. And I pray it helps you like it helped me.
I was reading the story about Abraham and LOT.
IN SHORT: After Abraham had left his native country . He took with him his cousin Lot following God’s instruction to go to where God was going to show him. HOWEVER, Lot’s herdsmen began to have conflict with Abraham’s herdsman because both men had become wealthy with flocks of sheep, goats and cattle and the Land land they were both settling together was becoming a little overcrowded. So in order to maintain peace with his close relative, Abraham suggested to Lot that they separate. He told Lot to choose which ever land he wanted and he would take that which was left. Probably thinking that Lot would be reasonable and fair in his selection.
GENESIS 13:8b “Take your choice of any section of the land you want, and we will separate. If you want the land to the left, then I’ll take the land on the right. If you prefer the land on the right, then I’ll go to the left.”…
10 So Lot looked and saw that the valley of the Jordan was well watered everywhere—this was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah; [it was all] like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar [at the south end of the Dead Sea]. 11 Then Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan, and he traveled east. So they separated from each other.
With that choice and upper hand, Lot chose all the best land and moved and settled there (Not even thinking what would become of his dearest relative Abraham ); leaving Abraham with mediocre, so-so, OK, no the best land, for him to settle (TALK ABOUT BEING GREEDY AND SELFISH HERE MR. LOT) .
EXCUSE YOU LOT – are you forgetting you related to the brother?, -uuuhhh the reason you blessed so much is probably because of your association with Abraham. He could have left you behind when God called him -but out his kind heart – he brought you along to partake of the Lord’s blessing yet the chance you get to promote your self you don’t even think twice about Abraham’s well-being.
SORRY GUYS I have a huge problem with Lot right now!!!!!
This is just total SHADE right here.
I mean – He (LOT) could at least have took some of the best land and also left a some good land for Abraham – BUT OH NO – Lot had to take it all!
Lot REALLY????!!!!
DO YOU KNOW PEOPLE LIKE LOT IN YOUR LIFE? – Those people you think are loyal but when it comes down to making a decision that benefits them they totally forget you exist. They totally forget how much you helped them in the past – not to say you looking to be rewarded for your kindness – but some level of consideration would be nice. Those people who seem to have temporary memory loss of how you were there for them? Those people who say they are “Family” when they need you – but when things work out for them … they seem not to know you ? DO YOU KNOW OF A Lot?
I’m glad about one thing! – That GOD never fails in a world full of ‘LOTS’… Let’s keep reading the story please…
Then the Lord said:
14 The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had left him, “Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are standing, northward and southward and eastward and westward; 15 for all the land which you see I will give to you and to your descendants forever. 16 I will make your descendants [as numerous] as the dust of the earth, so that if a man could count the [grains of] dust of the earth, then your descendants could also be counted.
As I read this passage of scripture I wondered – Why did the Lord ask Abraham to “LIFT UP HIS EYES AND LOOK”.
Was Abraham eyes closed?
Was Abraham looking down?
What was going through Abraham’s mind?
Was he feeling discouraged with the portion of land that his Cousin Lot had selfishly left for him while he (LOT) took the best.
Was he disapointed with Lot’s greediness?
Was he feeling hopeless with what was left for him?
I would like to believe that Abraham was a bit discouraged with Lot’s behavior. He was probably wondering how God’s promise was going to be fulfilled with what was left and GOD had to stop him in his thoughts. REMIND him that HE is the God of the impossible. HE specializes in what is left. HE is not hindered by what looks like the worst. He can turn the ugly and make it beautiful. HE can make infertile land – fruitful. AS LONG AS HIS IN IT – THEN ALL IS WELL.
Friend, I want to encourage you with this passage of scripture we just read, that:
It doesn’t matter who left you? It doesn’t matter they left you cut and dry? It doesn’t matter they betrayed you? They stubbed you in the back. It doesn’t matter it looks like they are doing way better than you. It doesn’t matter.
What matters is WHO IS ON YOUR SIDE? My word for you today is “Open your eyes, Look UP, look around YOU’. GOD is working everything for your GOOD.
It doesn’t feel like it right now BUT he is working it out for your GOOD.
OPEN YOUR EYES, NOW LOOK UP, LOOK AROUND – GOD IS DOING IT FOR YOU.
I think that sometimes GOD allows certain people to leave us, to separate from us, to reject us – so that HE can show us things that we may have not been seeing before. To allow us to TAP into greater and bigger things he predestined for us. So do not stay focused too long on those who left you, those who betrayed you, those who abandoned you or those who didn’t accept you – NO! don’t stay focused on them for too long. Sometimes the greatest blessings come out the greatest pain. Its hard at the time when it happens, but if we take a moment to just look up and look around and see from God’s perspective – we will realize its probably for the best THAT things happened the way they happened. We cannot change what people do to us – but we are so in control with what we do going forward…
OPEN YOUR EYES, LOOK UP, LOOK AROUND YOU , MOVE FORWARD child of God.
God will back you up. He will work all things together for your good – Just believe in what He has said.
Devotional Prayer:God open our eyes to see what you are doing . Help us to see things the way you see them. Heal every broken heart. Heal the pain from the rejection, from the disappointment, from the abandonment, from the betrayal – HEAL it all – Now Grant us the GRACE to look UP and See that you NEVER FAIL US even when people do.
